In 2016 Centre Pompidou launched a platform called Cosmopolis, which encourages research-based artistic practices that engage with international conversations. These practices were then publicized through an event that included exhibitions, talks, performances and other cultural programs.

The first event, titled "Collective Intelligence", was held from October to December 2017 at the Centre Pompidou and the second event, "Cosmopolis #1.5: Enlarged Intelligence", will see the center travel to Chengdu in Sichuan province.

Opening on Nov 3 and running through Jan 6, this year's event will gather artists from more than 20 countries and regions, whose works will address the influence of rapid technological reforms on metropolitan life and on reshaping the relationship between cities and rural areas.

Exhibitions will be presented in several locations in Chengdu and in neighboring Leshan, where artists will show their productions during a residence in Jiajiang county.

Enlarged Intelligence is based on Centre Pompidou's collaboration with Mao Ji-hong Arts Foundation, founded by Chinese fashion designer Mao Jihong, and the Chengdu Media Group.
